Question:
I need some help finding out the worth of some old comic books. I've used
Google, Books, & Direct Hit & haven't found a site that has info on specific
comics & how much they're worth depending on condition. Anyone know where I
can find such info on the web?
Also, I came across a link about writing for comics, which got me to
thinking about it. Has anyone here ever written for comics before? Is it
lucrative?
I really need some help on a link to find out what these comic books are
worth. Any help is deeply appreciated!
Answer:
Well, Wizard Magazine's website now has
an extensive new area where you can make your own comics and
collectibles portfolio, and it'll track prices and such. This, let me
point out, is entirely free of charge.
Problem is, Wizard has a bit of a reputation for listing prices which
are inflated; which point more to market trends than to actual book
value. And the service just started up, so it a) lags and b) doesn't
have every book.
... or, you could just ask me what they're worth ...
As for writing for comics, there's a lot of info on comic writer
Warren Ellis' homepage , as well as Comic
Book Resources , where both Ellis
and writer Steven Grant have regular columns.
It's not an easy field to get into, though ...
