Question:
For all the "That's it for me" threads, how many people have actually
eliminated a strip from their list, left it completely behind, no going
back to it once a week to see what's happening?
Answer:
- I'm a very slow one to change my comics page, basically, since
it's a hassle to fiddle with the URL to the Houston Chronicle page (I
want my comic strips in *my* order, not alphabetical) -- I still have
Fox Trot dailies on there, although that usually shows a duplicate of
9 Chickweed Lane these days -- and I don't much want to fiddle with a
set of bookmarked tabs even though that's not so bad.
So it's just as well that I haven't gone proclaiming my readiness
to drop any comic strips. I admit I've been tempted to drop For Better
Or For Worse, but with it so close to the end (has Lynn Johnson already
written the final strip? Surely she's passed the lead-time requirements
for the final Sunday strip by now) it feels worth it to stick it out
until the strip enters the Future Tech $N stage of life. I'm also
tempted to drop Funky Winkerbean.
Actually, come to think of it, I have dropped something lately:
I used to keep a bundle of a dozen or so editorial cartoons that I would
check on Sundays, but I finally gave in to the fact I barely liked them
and I don't think I've looked at any in three months now.
-I actually re-created my Chron comics page to eliminate The Quigmans,
I hated the art so much.
I stopped reading Piranha Club, just because I didn't find it funny.
This could be completely wrong, but I get a feeling that it's more a
strip guys relate to.
FUNKY WINKERBEAN PLOTLINE SPOILER BELOW
(how long do you reckon we're going to need spoiler space for this
storyline? until it's finished?)
I'll probably drop Funky any day now. Reading Brian's early strips on
the web in one sitting was one thing (not to mention that it was a
story of hope). Watching Lisa die in slow drips will be excruciatingly
depressing.
