Here's to a successful Free Comic Book Day!
Well it's looking good at my local comic shop. I just got back and had
spoken to the owner. He was very pleased that there have been several
"rushes" on the store so far this morning, so I think he's fairly happy
with the response. I picked up a bunch of back issues and got a handfull
of free comics to boot.
Answer:
-My favourite store restricted people to one free book per customer.
The place was pretty crowded though, with a lot of people in line
waiting for a "head shot" of their favourite comic character drawn . I
wish now that I'd gotten into line but I had some other things to do,
none of which panned out the way I planned.
-When I was picking up my comics yesterday I asked if he'd seen a bump
in traffic since Free Comic Book Day. There had been a big bump on
that day, but he said he hadn't seen anything since, and he said he
really wasn't expecting one either. That's pretty dissapointing
really, but I hope that keeping this going and increasing media
attention will help draw those kids and teenagers that are missing
our on some top quality entertainment. I think it'll be interesting
to watch Diamond's numbers over the next couple months to see if
there are any sustained increases. Hope so.
